TEHRAN Iran expects Russia to speed up work to complete Bushehr nuclear power station, said Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Golamreza Aqazadeh in Moscow Tuesday. The Iranian government and people would like to see the Russian side make up for the delay and accelerate work to complete the Bushehr nuclear power plant, he added. He made the remark in the first round of his talks with Russian Minister for Atomic Energy, Yevgeny Adamov. In the meeting, the Russian official pledged to conduct the developing stages of the project, with the use of further facilities and betterment of orchestration, under the framework of schedules.
Russian officials said in February that Russia would take over construction of the 1,000 megawatt plant at Bushehr. Work on the 900 million dollar power station was halted after just 25 months under a 1995 contract which had projected its completion in less than a year.
